Did you know more than seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and are supported by more than 11 million unpaid caregivers?  As these numbers grow, creating inclusive, supportive spaces is essential.

Dementia Friendly America was launched to help communities create these spaces. In July 2019, Glencoe became recognized as a Dementia Friendly Community. Today, Family Service of Glencoe and the 51³Ô¹Ï partner to offer meaningful, nature-based experiences for individuals living with dementia and their care partners.  

On September 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 51³Ô¹Ï and Family Service of Glencoe offer Dementia Friendly Day—a day created to support individuals living with dementia and their care partners.

Offered in observance of World Alzheimer’s Month, staff from Family Service of Glencoe, 51³Ô¹Ï, and a variety of local service and product providers will be on hand to answer questions and share resources. Enjoy a complimentary snack while visiting the resource and activity tables in the Garden’s Burnstein Hall in the Regenstein Center.
